Fritch Church of Christ Disaster Relief

05/14/2014 12:06

Hello All!

Fritch Church of Christ is putting together Disaster Relief items, money, etc to help those effected by the wildfires.  Below is the list that we are currently asking for to meet the needs of people in the area.  We have various surrounding congregations that will be donating items as well.  We plan on organizing these and having our Church's multi-purpose room open, starting Monday May 19th.  Our building will be opened Monday-Friday 8-11am and 5-8pm for those that are in need of help, our supplies and services.

We also are going to have a FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT, this Sunday May 18th with Dinner being served at 5:00pm before movie starts.  We will distribute items here too and will give those that are effected by the fire a night to just kick back, have fun and let us take care of them!

The list of needed items:

Food and water are fine for the next several days, and we have been told that food and water come in truck loads, so that's not an immediate concern.  For those that have lost homes, some of the biggest stuff is clothing and toiletries.  Things that are used on a day-to-day basis...so, here is the list that we have seen from several different places of what is needed the most.

Bras

Girls panties

Boys underwear

Men's boxers/underwear

Ladies panties

Socks of ALL sizes

Toothpaste

Deodorant

Toothbrush

Hairbrush

Comb

Shampoo

Conditioner

I would say that any clothes at all would be welcome as well, though we do encourage only NEW clothes.  This helps with sorting and distribution, and is something our brothers and sisters in Christ will be able to use for a longer period of time.  Sandals and flip-flops are not highly recommended, as most of these will be spending much time working outdoors going through debris.

I know some had asked about financial needs.  We have heard recommended things like gift cards to places local around here like Wal-Mart, United Supermarkets, McDonald's, KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, etc....just some suggestions as many will be needing to eat out more for a while.

We are organizing this evening and getting volunteers signed up to help out with the distribution of goods from our building beginning Monday next week.

Also, we do have some specific sizes for two families that we know have lost their homes.  Those are:  Size 8 Women's Pants, Medium and Small in Women's Shirts, 9 in Women's shoes.  Large in Men's Shirts, and 9.5 in Men's shoes.  Pants size are 12 and some 14 short or petite.  Blouse size likely large.  She wears special orthopedics so nothing on shoes.

If you want to assist financially, suppying items or giving of your time please let me or call the office of Fritch Church of Christ and we will use all the help that is offered to us to assist in helping our community.  God bless you and have a blessed day!
